August 7th
We donated some money to Rolling Hills for their annual Easter egg hunt to help with the goodies in the eggs. Packed up and headed to our next stay in South Dakota. This time the cats were upset and meowing for most of the way there. Eventually calming down but it was worse than yesterday. No clue why. Nothing changed. Poor babies.
Another nice short drive. We are staying at a campground that was a different campground before this. The owners stayed long term at the previous campground and then bought it and now own this one. They had to change the sewer hookups because the previous owners had them on the wrong sides. They're still working on some things so there's not much. A nice little camp store with basis, ice, wood, stuff if you fish. all hookups, picnic table, and fire ring. The owners are super nice. They're always so helpful. We've never met bad owners. well the family owned ones are always so nice. Bigger ones have nice people working but something about them...
A storm just passed us a little after setting up. The cats can tell we are staying here for a few days. They made themselves at home and were't pacing around lol. Figaro stayed out during all the winds we got from the storm passing. Or that's just the wind they normally get here. I looked it up and this is also one of the windiest states. I can't wait to get out of all the windy states. It still makes me nervous even though there really isn't much to worry about. This thing has been through some heavy winds and is still kicking.
We noticed water leaking out the passenger side panel above the wheels. Water was leaking a bit out from under the pet drawer under the fridge too. No water in the drawer above, fridge, or freezer. Left it alone because there were sprinklers hitting our trailer last night and we were using the gas for the fridge. The water hit the vent and we thought maybe it got in there and was going out a weird way.
Some time passed and we looked under the kitchen sink and Joe found the problem. The pump had a cracked piece and was leaking there and under the stove and to the pet drawer. This is cheap wood so I feel that's why it soaked so fast. Definitely a problem that started just today. We ended up putting JB Water Weld stuff in the pipe we don't use to stop the leaking. We never ran on the pump anyway because it's been broken since we were in Medina. So we weren't losing out on anything. To fix the pipe we ruined we will just have to take the 90 degree off and replace it.
So now the water works but we have to dry what got wet. All the drawers are out. Have a fan going and some desiccant to absorb water too. The cats are nosy and want to go back under the cabinets. Not sure how long it'll take to dry and if there's more damaged underneath where we can't see. But at least we are livable again.
Tomorrow we are probably staying in Hot Springs and doing their local stuff and grocery shopping. Wednesday should be Mount Rushmore. Thursday is Badlands. Hoping the weather is okay here at the park so I don't freak out and can enjoy myself lol..
Sturgis is going on and we saw SO many bikers.
Going to what A Knight's Tale and make food and go to bed.
