August 10th Badlands

We decided to go to Badlands later in the afternoon so that we'd still be there for sunset. Packed a lunch and headed out. We stopped at Wall Drug first since we saw a million signs for it. Even in Wyoming. Reminded us of But-ees but South Dakota style. We liked this better. Still lots of people but you could still enjoy yourself. They have lots of little shops, a chapel, ice cream, fudge, cafe, gift shop, attractions that put on a show for a quarter or more, splash pad, free ice water, 5 cent coffee, so on! The whole street is in on it. More shops and Harley Davidson. We could have spent longer here but we wanted to get to Badlands. We had to make it in time to get our passport stamped! I bought the ticket online the day before.  $30 and good for a week. This is the only National Park we've been to where you can just walk anywhere. Other then back home, for the most part. Went to the visitor's center and got our stamp and bought a few things. Got to the Notch Trail and thought we wouldn't have time to do the whole thing in order to make the sunset at the overlook I wanted. We did most of it and then found out we were basically at the end of the trail when we decided to turn around lol. There was a ladder you had to climb up and down for the trail. It was embarrassing and awful. Worst thing in the world, lol. Great views though and we saw some mountain goats. Headed to Yellow Mound and stopped at other overlooks on the way. Got to Pinnacles and saw people setting up there for sunset. I know that's another good spot but I really wanted to see Panorama Point. So we went back that way and got to see the sunset and the pretty colors of the rocks in all the different lights. There were hardly any people and the whole trip was really enjoyable. Even with the heat. I'd go back again and do some of the longer trails. It would be neat to see what it looks like in all different seasons. The colors left in the sky after the sunset on the way back to our trailer were crazy. So pretty. The stars were crazy good too. I would have wanted to stay and see the stars at Badlands but my phone died and I couldn't see the cats or the temperature of the trailer so I was going nuts in my head. Ahhhh, would be nice to not be like this lol. Got back and kitties were fine, duh. Made some food and was super tired. Didn't make posts or anything. Went to bed lol.
