Hot Springs State Park + Dinos
We checked out the city park last night. I was surprised with how much there was to do there. We wanted to see the stage area so we knew what we needed for the free concert on Thursday. The area is shaded, which is a plus. You can camp here for free for three days. There were TONS of tent campers, car campers, and RVs.
Went to scream shack after because I've heard lots of good things about their shakes. It was cash only and this was the one time we didn't have cash. So next time! Lol.
Today I got up and made coffee, breakfast, packed lunches, got our stuff ready to go to Hot Springs State Park.
The park is small but there is a decent amount of stuff to do. They have two recreation centers. You can go in the hot springs and they have waterslides, a vapor cave and pools. I had our swim stuff ready to go but I was chasing Cherry back into the trailer and totally forgot to bring our gear 😄 So we will be going back because I really want to go into a mineral pool!
We did the Spirit hike and the Monument hike. Spirit basically takes you along the park to all the top attractions. Monument takes you up a huge hill/mountain (not sure) and there's an old grave at the top. The views are decent and there's a box with a log of people who have been to the top.
The springs smell awful because of sulphur but you get used to it. The water is so pretty. Crazy colors. Lots of history here as well. We even saw bison! We didn't get too close. They were all hanging out on top of a hill and they had their babies with them. I even got to see them wallow. Which I think is the cutest thing. A big massive monster just rolling around like a silly dog in the sand 😂
Joe saw dinosaur signs on our way in so we went and followed them on the way out. Went to a dinosaur museum and then went to an active dig site. Interesting but I don't think anything is real so, not for me lol.
