Traveling to Livingston
Tearing down site is so easy for us now. Doesn't take long at all. BUT the unexpected can always happen. & for us, it normally does 😅 Joe found a screw in our passenger backside trailer tire. Luckily our spare isn't a donut and it's the actual tire. We went up front to see if the owners had a bottle jack. They did, Joe's never changed a tire on a trailer. He assumed you put the jack on the beam to lift it up. The owner and his friend kept watching to make sure he was good. I stayed in the truck and tried to keep the cats calm. Wasn't working so well. I noticed the owner and his friend walk over to Joe to help him lol. They were super nice and thank god they did help because I guess you put the jack under the equalizer. Poor Joe's legs were still recovering and it was so hot and humid out. He was a mess lol.
So we headed to Livingston, LA. I kid you not, this highway had tire remains the entire way from Alabama to Louisiana. Every mile there was shreds of tires or full tires. I saw multiple trailers, RVs, and cars pulled over changing their tires. There were a few RVs we were behind that were going exactly 55. Which is no big deal but we thought it was a little too slow? We later on figured it's because everyone's tires were blowing up. When we stopped to get gas Joe checked the trailer's tire pressure and it was over 80 (when we left Alabama we were at 65)!!!! We let some air out and decided we are also going to go 55 on these highways. We cannot risk a blowout when we have no other spare. When we were back on the highway we saw one SUV and one literal car towing two other cars behind them because their tires popped. Then another SUV passed and had a trailer but no cars yet. I made a joke saying they're like the Louisiana Ubers. They probably ride around on the highway and wait to see people with no spares pulled over and ask if they want a ride to a tire shop? Something? We looked this up on Google and saw nothing about all these tire massacres. Someone has to be paying Google to keep it off of the web lol. We were almost at our exit when a Nissan in front of us had their back tire blow up and we had no other option than running it over. Thank god no damage was done to us. We were just kidding about something bad happening once we were ten miles out too 😅
So, we made it! This is the first Good Sam RV park we've stayed at. They are super nice. We had to cut this trip short so Joe can get back home for his grandma's funeral. Too late for a refund, but that's no big deal. Set up and went to a local grocery store for a few things. I did our laundry (not the best laundry rooms lol.) Walked a little around the park once it got dark out. The humidity here is as expected, UNREAL. You can't convince me anyone is here because they like the weather. There's no way. It's misery. BUT that makes this place nice. There's hardly anyone here because of the heat and the hurricanes. I wish I enjoyed the humidity because I'd stay here just for the no people aspect. of things lol.
Well, there's swamps too. Can't forget the swamps. Interesting but mosquito breeding grounds.
I always have wanted to go on those airboats though. Maybe next time!
