NOLA!

We had a booked tour of Oak Alley Plantation at 10am. Made sure the A/C was cranked, cat camera was working, & my temp stick app was good to go!

Oak Alley has an alley of oak trees and it is truly stunning. These trees are remarkable (I wish they had the Spanish moss on them too)

The trees start to lean over when one side gets too heavy. So some of the trees had their trunk curved and branches laying on the ground. They're insane. SOOOO pretty. I want them in my yard.

It was so hot but this place was gorgeous so I dealt with the heat. The tour was actually really nice and our tour guide was a charming little old lady. She also grew up on a sugar plantation (obviously different from when there were slaves.) This plantation is still an actively running sugar plantation today.

There was a tobacco farm nearby that Joe wanted to check-out. This is not a place that people actually go. But he read that some guy went to a pipe show in New Orleans and went to this farm afterwards and knocked on the door. When someone answered they offered him a tour. So we decided to give it a shot. When we got there we saw one car in the driveway. Pulled in, Joe got out, knocked on the doors and shouted. No one came up to us so we decided to leave.

So I know New Orleans these days is pretty dangerous. Not what it used to be. But I have always wanted to go. So I found a place to eat and convinced Joe to walk a few blocks in the heat with me. We ate at the Original Pierre Maspero's. Such a cute building and amazing food for a good price! We loved everything about this place. New Orleans is open container, for the most part, which is pretty neat. So we had to get a to-go drink to say that we did it. Today they were having a naked bike race and a pride parade. I would have loved to stay but there was no way Joe was doing that 😂 Plus it was just too hot and humid, I would have died. Sat in an alley by the Louisiana supreme court building and hung out.

We'd definitely come back but get a hotel for the night. There's a lot to do here and we'd love to see the cemeteries.

We are back at the trailer now and getting ready to leave and head to Holly Springs tomorrow. We are going to watch one of the movies that was filmed at the Oak Alley Plantation and have some pasta for dinner.

Movie- Interview with the Vampire

(Going to try and convince Joe to walk around the entire campground later)

Praying the cats don't hate me tomorrow. I want them to be comfortable with the truck already 💔

So many pretty plants here

Obsessed

Look at them!

Big washtub

Some of the slaves houses.

Names of the many slaves who worked for the Roman's and built the mansion.

NOLA!

French Quarter is a nicer part of New Orleans

Courthouse, I think it's a museum now. No longer their actual courthouse. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm confused lol.

Joe ordered "The Cure" and the lady working looked so puzzled. We kept saying it in different accents because we realized we might sound like hillbillies and that's why she couldn't understand us 😂 The people behind us kept saying it too. Finally the owner came over and was like "we've sold 4 of those in my 9 years" after she finished this sentence her tooth fell out and I knew this was the place I wanted to be. Not kidding, she's my people lol.

Worst spot to be in New Orleans lol.

All I wanted to really hear was an old black man putting his soul into some jazz. We looked everywhere, nothing!!!!!

The alley we hangout in.

Cherry trying to get a lick of grass. She's so bad.
