Mississippi
Left Livingston and had to wait a little longer then we wanted to for the tanks to drain. The sewer hook up was higher then where it comes out of the trailer. So that made it hard to drain. If we would have pulled up like Joe wanted to then it would have drained easier. But we would have been in the middle of the road and other RVers were leaving too. We didn't want to block them.
The cats had their anxiety attacks for a few minutes and then Figaro went into his cage and slept most of the ride there. Cherry was on my lap but way less than normal. She would sit in the middle of Joe and I. She would go look out the windows and work herself up. That's when she freaks out so I have to grab her and put her back on my lap. She tries going in the cage sometimes. Figaro doesn't share. We will have to get a cage just for her. They did much better this time though. That made me happy.
When we were 30 minutes from our campsite we got a weather alert. There's a huge storm in Memphis and coming all the way down through Mississippi. We were in the eye of it for a bit. The weatherman said there'd be lots of car damaging hail. 40-60 mph winds, he said to expect roofing and siding to fly off. Perfect 😃 We got to our spot, set-up, 30 seconds to spare and it started to downpour. Thankfully the direction of the storm somehow shifted and JUST missed us. So we weren't hit as bad as other counties. There's going to be thunderstorms the whole week we are here. We will see about us leaving and doing what we have on our list to-do. Not sure if we should leave the cats. We will be watching the weather closely and go from there.
I went to Walmart for a few things that I'll need while Joe is gone. Smallest Walmart I've ever been in. There were only 5 check outs lol. Which was actually really nice. Everyone here is super nice. This is how I imagined the south! Aside from the unexpected weather. I honestly didn't even think about it. Forgot this was tornado alley 😁
We got here yesterday. Today is Monday and Joe started his 11 hour car drive back to Ohio.
This morning we tried finding some one to talk to that works here. We were unable to check in at 4 because we arrived later. Which we called beforehand and whom ever we spoke to said it was fine. Google says they're open 9-4 but we went up to the front twice and no one was there. There's another building deeper in the park so we went there and found someone to talk to. This park is super nice and quiet. Not many people come here. I'm assuming it has to do with location and because the park isn't kept up with. Which doesn't bother us. We don't need the laundry rooms, bathrooms, picnic area, play areas and such. But if someone does want those things, this isn't the place. Sadly. They should really keep up with things because this place has a lot of potential!
The primitive campsites are nice and basic. The RV spots need some help. There's a lot of them and you have a picnic table, fire ring, electric and water hook ups. BUT most of the water hook ups are cracked and have water spraying everywhere. Which, of course, ours is one of these sites lol. We have a bucket over the crack so it's just spraying back to the ground. The tree roots are begging to come out of the asphalt roads. This makes for a couple hundred speed bumps on your way in. So we went maybe 2mph on our way to the campsite lol. There's one dump station and it's in the middle of all the campsites. Also needs some up keep. But it'll do!
I'm just happy to be back in the woods! No neighbors and a nice camp spot!
