Eagle's Point

Made coffee and got ready for the day. Cherry goes out every morning and she's getting so much better at walking on a leash and not eating as much grass. She walks to the trash with me and around the little circle we are in.

We drove to the main pavilion in the state park and got on the trail to head to Eagle's Point. The trail was up and down hills but nothing like Tennessee. It rained here and there but nothing like yesterday. There was never a storm. On our way to Eagle's Point we came across Cindy's Cave and decided to check that out as well. The cave is decently sized and has a stream going through it. The stream trickles out of the cave and forms a small waterfall. It was very peaceful. Nobody was here. Not much of a tourist destination plus it was raining. Which works out for us. We spent a decent amount of time at this cave. We walked back as far as we could until our heads touched the ceiling. You can take a tour of this cave through the campground and they'll give you the gear you need to crawl through. You'll come across bats and all the critters that live in the cave. We might do this Saturday since it's only $5. This was a nice little side quest.

Continued on to Eagle's Point. The views really are breathtaking. The size of Dale Hollow is just enormous. There's a decent amount of islands here too. The most used one is Trooper Island. The island hosts a free summer camp for children ran by the Kentucky State Police since 1965. Hiked back and relaxed a little at the trailer.

Got ready to check out the little restaurant that the Lodge has. They were doing construction on the windows that look out to Dale Hollow. Kind of sucked because that's where we wanted to sit but we already saw the best of views. The food was cheap and really good. They had all underage workers so they no longer sell alcohol because of it lol. Our waitress was a sweetheart. Everyone here is super nice.

Walked to the truck and noticed a trailhead across from the truck. Decided to check it out and saw there was a trail called 'short bridge' thought it sounded neat and wanted to check it out. All of the maps here are wrong and turn you all around. So we ended up never finding 'short bridge' lol.

Decided to drive the rest of the park to see what is all here. The park ends at the marina. The marina is a decent size too. So many boats. A lot of them have covered storage too. You can rent houseboats and we took a look at some of them. That would be super cool to do one day in the future.

We think we have the rest of Kentucky planned. Tomorrow Joe wants to go back to the cave with a flashlight and our good camera that we got from his mom. Friday we want to try and go to Cumberland Falls. The weather should be fine but it's always changing. Not as bipolar as Mississippi but still. I don't want to leave the cats if there's another bad storm lol. There's another marina close by and they have live music 6-9pm on the weekends. You can also sit on the water. So we might give this a shot after the falls. Saturday we might do the guided cave tour or we will just hangout. Sunday is our tour at Mammoth Cave. Monday we head to Indiana. So close to the Dead show!!!!!!!

We also need to figure out our next move. Indiana is the last stop on this specific journey.

Joe found a tick on him. I swear this is number 13 of just this year 😬
