Travel Day
Packing up and getting ready to leave was easy. One of the new neighbors wanted Joe to show her how to dump when we left. This place said they had sewer hookups at the spots online. We saw they had one dump station on your way out only. The owner told us how the city won't allow it because the septic is considered one for a twelve bedroom house only. He said they had the pipes already in at the RV sites and everything. He is going to try and find a work around.
I stayed in the truck with the cats while Joe dumped and showed the lady how. The cats were not having a good time. We said our goodbyes and we were on our way to Alabama! We wanted to do a straight shot out of the mountains. So we followed Joe's Google Maps. We need to get better at finding a route and knowing which app/maps work best. We've watched a few videos but we still need to get our own rhythm going lol. Because of where we are we have to go out of the mountains and to the hills no matter what. So we took the less curvy one, still curvy. This made Cherry carsick. She puked twice. All over my feet. I felt awful, I wanted to cry. Figaro gets stressed and he will meow and then keep his mouth open and pant. It breaks my heart into a million pieces. I do everything I can for them. Treats, water, blankets, toys, cuddles, kisses, air from the windows, anything they need. I wish they didn't hate the truck. It stresses me out so much. To the point I cannot concentrate. My only goal is to get them where we need to be and put them in the trailer as fast as possible so they can be happy. I don't want them to be on any medications but we might need to find something that helps them not be so stressed in the truck. Open to any recommendations!!!
Sat with dried puke for a couple of hours until Cherry felt better and I was able to clean up. Mom life lol!
So once we got going and we were in Georgia the cats were alright. Figaro is a lot better when he just goes in the carrier and doesn't pay attention to what's going on. So that's where I tried to keep him most of the time. Cherry does fine when she is on my lap and also not paying attention to what's going on. Which is hard to keep her distracted if she's not already tired or something.
We stopped at a rest area in Greenville. The state of Alabama doesn't have any time limit on how long you can stay, which is nice. They also have security guards/attendants on duty at most times. Unless the rest area states otherwise. We left to get gas and we were going to try and stay at the Cracker Barrel in the city. We got there and they have signs saying they no longer allow overnight stops. So we went back tot he rest area and set up for the night. The cats were fine when they got back in the trailer. They had to get used to the semi trucks and all the commotion but they didn't mind it.
