Headed to Hayesville, NC!
Awful π
Cleaning up and getting ready to go on the road was easy. The cats didn't even mind being in the truck for the first half. But Joe's GPS took us the worst way possible. He didn't want to use my truck app for some reason. We ended up going all the way up a mountain with a million twists and tight turns. Then we came down the mountain on even worse dirt roads. I'm amazed we made it. Honestly lol. So then we decided to try out my truck app. Also a bad idea. I don't think that many truckers come to Hayesville so the app cannot be fully developed. This took us to a dead end to the water. The people who lived here were looking at us like we were insane. The cats are also in full freak out mode. Thankfully there was a boat ramp that we were able to use to turn ourselves around and out of another mountain π What was going to be a 2 hour 30 minutes drive turned into an anxiety ridden 5 hour drive lol. Good practice for Joe, right!?! We can laugh now because multiple people told us they were surprised we made it out of the places we came from πππ The boat ramp was really only a couple miles from where we needed to be. Except we were on the opposite side of a mountain.
Once we got there it was pretty easy to back in and get set up. The owners took us on a tour of the property and all of the magical themed cabins. Most are already built but a few of them are still under construction. Such a peaceful place. We had a little stream behind us and it was soothing to listen to at night. There was a community fire pit that was Alice in Wonderland themed. Our own fire pits had cute stars on them. Lights in the trees. A lot of very detailed stuff to look at on the property. A game area with chess, checkers, corn hole and a few other games.
I found a free Alex Key concert in Hayesville at the Cherokee Homestead so we headed to that. The square of Hayesville is so cute. I think everyone that lives here came to the concert tonight. They had tents selling beer and food. Alex Key was pretty good and he played a lot of covers. In Color by Jamey Johnson being my favorite. They even turned a Prince song into country. It was nice!
This was only 15 minutes from our campsite so we got back and had a fire. The owners are doing free firewood for all guests during Memorial Day Weekend which is super nice. I made some foil packs and we hangout while listening to the water and the trees.
Oh, the cats were totally fine once they got in the trailer! Back to their antics.
