Found our way to Black River Falls.
The GPS tells you to turn into someone's driveway thinking that it is a road. If you keep going you'll see a county dirt road with the name Island Lake Rd. Follow this until there is a curve. You eventually dead-end and that's the parking lot. There is a small rusted sign that looks to be on someone's driveway.
The path is neat because there's obstacles and nice scenery. Not fit for children or seniors. You come to what looks like the remains of a bridge. Go to the left and there is a trail that goes down, up and around. We saw a lot of fire pits that looked like most of them were extremely recent. One was even smoldering. You can view the falls from above and you can take the trail following the water to see the falls from the bottom. You will cross a bridge that looks like it's rotting away. Be careful. The falls spill into a small pond. There's many rocks and easy points to get closer to the falls (you still have to climb and whatnot)
We passed the Iron Ore Heritage trail. This is a 47 mile trail for hiking, biking, atvs, cross-country ski, snowmobile. Along the trail there are points of reference about the human and geological heritage on the Marquette Iron Range. We are going to come back and try to bike the trail so we can see everything.
These are the mile markers. I think they are so cute lol.On the way to try another pasty place we drove around the Tilden Mine. This is an open pit mine that makes 20% of North America's iron ore. Online says they shutdown in 2016 but there were definitely workers there and you needed a key card to get into the actual mine. I can't imagine how many jobs this gives people. The place was huge. Joe was in awe lol.
We tried Lawry's Pasty Shop. They were out of the garden medley so I got a veggie melt instead. Just by the looks of Joe's pasty I could tell they were much better quality then Dobber's. We sat in to eat and the place was super steady pace and had great reviews. We got a frozen garden pasty for me to try at home. My veggie melt was so amazing though.
You can't even tell lol.
When we got home we started a new show, The Patient. It's good so far. New episodes released on Hulu every week. Only two out right now so then we started Nathan For You, again! Nathan Fielder is something else.
Made my pasty- this one tasted more like broccoli cheese soup and wasn't so dry. The dough is much better than Dobber's.
I wish I had another easy book to read. I need to finish Women who Run with the Wolves but I need to be in the mood for that. Paula gave Joe a book, Open Season. I might try this. Sounds a lot like Yellowstone so I don't see why I wouldn't love it.
