Shakedown Trip
The trailer is in our hands. Next step, test everything out and make sure we can comfortably live in our new home. We did this at Chatham Lakes Campground in Spencer, Ohio. August 2nd to August 12th.
We decided to do this not too far from "home." If anything goes wrong we wouldn't be too far from help. A few things did go wrong. But nothing too crazy. Our water was pulling in air from somewhere which we discovered was from the water port outside. A hose clamp was an easy fix. Well, bandaid.
The campground itself was very nice. We had water, electric, and sewer hook-ups. A fire ring and a picnic table. Bathrooms were onsite. Five lakes for fishing and one for swimming. Bingo on Friday's and a lot of other activities on Saturday's. Staff was also very nice and our neighbors were friendly too.
Prior to all of this we were living at Joe's mom's house. We made multiple trips back and fourth for some forgotten and needed items throughout the week. Friends and family also came by to see our new home. We had our going away dinner at Joe's mom's on Monday the 8th. We got back to our trailer and watched some T.V. I left a tomato in Joe's truck and had a craving for tomato on toast around 11 at night. We went out to the truck to get the tomato and for Joe to check our camping area for any debris (it had been storming pretty bad). I went to open the trailer door and we were locked out. Thankfully I had a set of keys on my keychain at Joe's mom's house. And thankfully Joe had his truck keys. We headed back to get my keys. Forty minutes there and forty minutes back. Later we discovered that this is a common thing that happens with this make and model. So, now we have multiple spare keys..
Stupid tomato...
Emptying the gray and black tanks was actually fairly easy. Granted, Joe watched over 20 YouTube videos on the topics.
The cats love the trailer. Figaro was scared at first but he is the scaredy cat. The one bedroom closet is his safe spot. So we always keep the door open for him. Cherry is the brave one and she scouted everything out within a day. Now traveling in the truck is another story..
