Getting to Iron Mountain
On August 12th we cleaned up our site and emptied the last of the gray and black tanks before hitching up. We put the cats in the truck last. They're still not familiar with going from the truck to the travel trailer. We drove with them to a Walmart for the night in Gaylord, Michigan. Once they're back in the trailer then they feel safe. We were pretty tired so we played a game of Beat Your Neighbor and went to bed.
Well, I went to bed. There were a few other travelers parked at this Walmart for the night. Joe kept hearing noises and became paranoid. Especially after he looked up the area and read that we were in a high crime rate area lol.. Nothing happened though and the police were always coming up and down the one side street.
In the morning we went to Walmart to pick up a few things that we needed and went on our way to our campsite in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The drive there wasn't too bad. Joe felt the most uncomfortable when we were driving alongside the water. The wind was 10-12mph and the road narrowed. It really does feel like a sailboat.
We got to our campsite around 3:30pm. We cross a timezone so we were one hour behind from Ohio. The owner drove in his golf cart and took us to our site. It's a nice one, in the woods and no one on our one side. There's no campsites behind us either. We have our own little trail in the back. Picnic table and a fire ring. No sewer hook-up here s you have to haul the stuff to the dump station up front. So we bought one of the "poop suitcases" at least that's what we call it.
Cherry is always the easiest to get out of the truck. So I took her in first. Figaro took some bribing. Once inside they felt right at home.
