August 21st 2022 ALL CAUGHT UP
Hello!!! So, I'm finally all caught up with the posts. I think I did an alright job with backtracking.
I'm all over the place. Let's see if I can get any better at this as time goes on.
Things I'd eventually like to do;
- Organize pages on here
- Post pictures
- Post more details about the places we go (pricing, parking, crowds, so on).
- Add links
- Organize my thoughts
- Separate ratings, pet stuff, adventures, blah blah
The last blog entries were all taken off of Joe's notes in his phone. I added, deleted, edited some things.
8/21/22
I woke up and I made breakfast. I took Cherry outside for ten minutes. Applied for more remote jobs. Fed the cats and cleaned the trailer while Joe slept. Found some more new music and added it to an already ongoing playlist. Once Joe was awake we came up with a quick game plan for today. We went back to the Millie Mine Bat Viewing area. On the way there we stopped at this auto body shop that has an awesome sign out front. I've been wanting a picture with the sign.
Too bad I didn't get to meet the guy lol.
We did a small hike once we arrived at Millie Mine. The walking trail goes down to the old mine which is now a lake. There are bike trails here and they are pretty neat! They're doing a lot of work and expanding. If you go past the bat viewing area and to the platform, you can get some pretty pictures of the town from above.
Still doesn't compare to the real deal. But this is overlooking Iron Mountain.
From there we went to the movie theater in town to see what the deal was. Joe was wondering if it was still operating because it's definitely an old school theater. It's called The Braumart. We were hoping they'd play older movies but they only do special events. Next event is 9/11, a Beatles Tribute. We kept riding Route 2 past our turn back to the campsite. I've been wanting to see what was over that way. Seems to be the only area we didn't explore. This part is in Wisconsin. We came across a few bars that look like ones we loved back home. Saloon Number 2 & Grill and JR's Pub & Grill. We were able to take a picture with the Michigan and Wisconsin signs.
Definitely need to get a tripod.
We also came across a sign that said Horse Race Rapids. So we had to go follow that. We went down the dirt road and came to a small area where you can park and walk the trail. There's steps going down to the rapids. The rock formations with the trees and the water was something out of a painting.
On our way back to the campsite we stopped at a liquor store to look around. We ended up getting a grape and cranberry wine called Three Lakes Winery. We also got a local Wisconsin beer, New Glarus Brewing Company. Wine is a lot sweeter than we normally have but it wasn't too bad, 7/10. The beer is 5/10, still haven't found anything that compares to the Ohio Breweries.
I made dinner. Bow-tie noodles with roasted garlic sauce and potatoes, onions, red pepper, broccoli all mixed in. Then we finished That Darn Cat!
Before bed we made this weeks menu for food and planned out a general idea for activities this week.
Our cat's shenanigans;
Yesterday Figaro was playing with the box of beer that had one beer left. He ended up sinking his teeth into the can and shotgunning himself in the face. Poor little man was soaked in beer. He was very cooperative when I washed him off.
Today when we came home we found egg remains all over the place. Joe looked in the kitchen sink and the drain was missing (Cherry loves to steal any kind of drain. She's never taken the kitchen drain though).
We found the drain behind the stovetop.
I had left egg crumbs in the drain this morning. I forgot to throw them in the trash before leaving. I also forgot that we have raccoons as pets. Not cats.
